Jerial Joseph (JJ) joined the staff team in 2021 on a two-year Supervised Ministry Education (SME) appointment, as a candidate for Ordained Ministry in The United Church of Canada and for Chaplaincy in the Canadian Armed Forces. Along with a sense of openness and willingness to learn, above all else, JJ brings a deep desire to discover more of this walk with Jesus.
His holds the Master of Divinity from Ambrose Seminary, the Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the Royal Military College, and a Diploma in Music Performance from Mount Royal University. Over the course of his time with Southwood, JJ will also be completing some United Church coursework through the Vancouver School of Theology.
JJ was born and raised at the foot of a dormant volcano beside a rainforest in Los Baños, Philippines, and moved to Calgary with his parents in 2001. He is now married to Maria, and they have two sons. For fun, he enjoys playing his guitar and leisure reading—a lot of "nerdy" books, that is! ;-)
