Donna joined the staff team in 2018 as the Church Administrator, having served previously as our Choir Director from 2007 to 2012, and again in 2019. She manages the day-to-day operations of the congregation by serving collaboratively with every ministry area, and is usually the first person you’ll talk to if you call in or visit the church. Her goal is to get to know everyone’s names and remember them ... and also to keep the church running smoothly and efficiently! Donna seeks to be used by God to help people find the gifts they have that can help the church and to discover how the church can help them.
Donna’s work history includes a brief stint in house-painting, mail sorting, and then a head-first dive into administrative roles—beginning with oil and gas, moving to stock trade, and then back to oil and gas. She shifted gears and joined the not-for-profit world in 2011 when she took the position of Executive Assistant to the CEO and Board of Directors at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Calgary and Area. Decades of honing her admin skills, and then six years of not-for-profit administration made her the ideal candidate for Church Administration when the position became available in 2018.
Donna has been a member of Southwood United Church since the mid-90s and considers Southwood her home, not just her job. She married her husband, Kyle, at Southwood in 2010, and when their daughter was born in 2012, they had her baptized at Southwood. The youngest Pearson can be found at church most Sundays with her posse of friends, and also often in the office on no-school days when she comes to work with her mom. Her art-work provides bright spots of colour in Donna’s office! In her spare time, you’ll find Donna spending time with her family and cooking delicious food. She also loves watching movies, reading a great novel, and keeping in touch with family and friends.
