Dear Southwood Church Family,
The time has arrived! I can’t tell you how excited I am to be looking forward to our re-launch of indoor, in-person worship service this coming Sunday, September 12th at 10:30 AM. While the COVID-19 pandemic is still very present and impacting how we gather and minister together, it remains true that our congregation is as committed as every to being a Spirit-led, biblically-based, transformational community of faith, following Jesus on his mission to change the world.
And welcome to our new website! There is still a fair bit of information and updating that will happen on the site over the next couple of months, but we wanted to get it out there this week, especially so that you can register online for services.
On that note, here’s the 5 BIG THINGS you need to know with regard to Relaunch:
This will be SWUC’s policy until further notice. Everyone must wear a mask while inside the building, except children under 2 years of age and those leading portions of the service behind vinyl shields. Masks mean masks, as defined by AHS—not bandanas, face shields, handkerchiefs, etc., but masks that cover your mouth and nose. If you happen to forget your own, fear not! A disposable one will be provided for you when you arrive.
... and you can choose to sit distanced or non-distanced from others. The Sanctuary has been split into distanced and non-distanced sections. You can register to sit within 2m of others or you can register with your family/cohort to sit in pre-spaced seats. Click here to register for this Sunday. The Ambassadors will have a registration list and ask for your name when you arrive at the main entrance.
In order to maintain masking and low contact, Council decided that holding off on eating and drinking in groups inside the building was the best way forward at this time. So, we encourage you to get caffeinated at home before you come to church, or to chat with friends and drink your morning beverage of choice outside on the South lawn or in the parking lot before/after church.
(Weather-permitting). Pastor Corinne and her team are planning some epic songs, activities, and stories for children ages 3 and up. Parents can drop their kids off by the North parking lot doors (there’ll be a tent!) before heading into the building. Nursery care won’t be offered at this time, but the nursery space will be available for adults to take kids into during the service. For more information, please contact Corinne Nairn. Additional details will also be sent out to the Children's & Family email list shortly. Click here to subscribe.
For those who aren’t able to attend in-person, the option to join online worship is still available. We’ve streamlined our systems and are excited to announce there’s now a central online worship space on our website. We’d ask that people please switch over to worshipping at southwoodchurch.ca/live beginning this Sunday.
** After Sept. 26th, we'll only be streaming to the page on our website. We’re phasing out our YouTube & Facebook simulcasts.
See you Sunday!
