"Join the Church" Learning Circle

Confirmation, Believer's Baptism, & Membership Class (Winter 2022)

Group Facilitators: Rev. Samuel P. Grottenberg & Riley Harper

Time Commitment: 6 bi-weekly sessions* of about 1.5 hours + readings/homework (see Syllabus for more info)

* Confirmands and candidates for Baptism need to attend all 6 sessions. Those transferring are welcome to attend all 6 but are only required to attend the last 2 (if they are transferring from another congregation of The United Church of Canada) or the last 3 (if they are transferring from outside The United Church of Canada).

Cost: FREE (PDF readings will be made available)

Description: This class is for anyone 13+ who wishes to pursue Confirmation, Baptism, or transfer of church membership. Please click here to download the Learning Circle Syllabus, which contains all the details. 

Meeting Time: Sundays, 8:30–10:00 AM (starting Feb. 6th)**

** We'll begin virtually (on Zoom) and hopefully move to in-person/hybrid in March.

  • Feb. 6th - Christianity 101
  • Feb. 20th - The Apostles' Creed
  • Mar. 6th - "Christian Initiation"
  • Mar. 20th - The United Church of Canada
  • Apr. 3rd - Southwood United Church / Living as Members
  • Apr. 10th - Professing Our Faith
  • Apr. 17th (TBC) - Celebration service (Easter Sunday)
