Musical Theatre Program

article_image_full

All our Musical Theatre Program Classes are open to the community.

Students in our program will learn a variety of skills throughout the class/production process including: auditioning, basic vocal technique, acting, character development, theatre history and terminology and more! Our program operates on the basis of ‘teaching through production’ where students learn their skills while rehearsing a show.

Our Fall Program will culminate in a Musical telling of story of Christmas and our Spring production will be a full Musical Production. Past Spring productions have included: Seussical, Jr!, Anne of Green Gables, Disney’s Alice in Wonderland Jr. and Narnia. We alternate between ‘JR’ musicals that are one-act versions of full musicals and full length, two act productions every second year, which include adults in the cast. The 2017 Spring Production will be a one-act Jr. production.

Class Fees are $30.00 per student for the Fall semester (Sept-Dec) and $60.00 per student for the Winter/Spring Semester (Jan-May). Confidential bursaries are available.

Please note: There is a parent volunteer requirement of a minimum of 3 hours per student.

Winter/Spring Session—January through May (Grades 3-12)

We are excited to announce our Spring 2017 Production, Honk! Jr.(Synopsis below).  Rehearsals run January through May with 4 performances May 5-7, 2017.

Honk Jr! Is a musical telling of the story of the Ugly Duckling with great music and a large cast of characters: Ugly looks quite a bit different from his darling duckling honk-logo-smallbrothers and sisters. The other animals on the farm are quick to notice and point this out, despite his mother’s protective flapping. Feeling rather foul about himself, the little fowl finds himself on an adventure of self-discovery, all the while unknowingly outwitting a very hungry Cat. Along the way, Ugly meets a whole flock of unique characters and finds out being different is not a bad thing to be.

Honk! Jr is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI. www.MTIShows.com.
